  • Trademark Registration Pakistan Steps

    The step-by-step process to the trademark registration in Pakistan is as under :

    Step 1: Conduct a Trademark Search

    • A search is conducted by our team by applying before the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO-Pakistan). We submit an application to ensure the desired trademark is available or same has been already registered by any other person.

    Step 2: File Trademark Application

    • We submit an application to IPO-Pakistan with required information and documents:
      • An application form for registration of Trademark in Pakistan
      • Power of Attorney (POA)
      • Copy of trademark/logo same can be sent by you in JPG format or any other format
      • Description of goods/services i.e. details of classifications etc
      • Payment of filing Official fee to IPO Pakistan

    Step 3: Examination

    • After receiving the application the IPO-Pakistan examines the application to ensure:
      • Distinctiveness
      • Non-similarity with existing trademarks
      • Compliance with laws

    Step 4: Publication

    • After completion of process the application published in the Trademarks Journal
    • Opposition period

    Step 5: Registration

    • If no opposition is received by the IPO during time line then, trademark registered for 10 years
    • After completion of this process a Certificate for Registration of Trademark is issued by the IPO Pakistan

    Step 6: Renewal

    • A Trademark can be renewed for 10 years for which an application form is submitted alongwith required documents and fees
    • Payment of renewal fee shall be made to IPO Pakistan

    • CNIC (National ID Card) for Local Pakistani applicant
    • Proof of business address
    • Proof of trademark usage (if already in use)

    • Filing to registration: 6 to 18 months
